Revit Market Joins TurboSquid Proper

November 18th, 2009 by Michele Bousquet

Tomorrow is the big day: Revit Market gets moved over to the main TurboSquid.com site!

What does this mean? Several things:

  • Revit files (RFAs) will use plain-English categories, meaning customers can more easily browse for what they need.
  • Customers will be able to search more easily for other file formats like DXF, DWG, and OBJ.
  • Google will list direct links to products in ordinary Google searches.
  • For publishers, it means you’ll get access to the Affiliate program, where you can make an additional 20% royalty on your model sales.

Revit Market has topped the 3500 mark, and with Revit files incorporated into TurboSquid’s main search, we expect it will keep going strong.

Revit Market visits Japan

October 20th, 2009 by Michele Bousquet

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Tokyo, Japan, where I encountered Jun Inoue of 3D Innovations. Jun started the Revit User Group for the Tokyo/Osaka area a couple of years ago, and they have since expanded to 1200 users.

Meeting Jun was a bit like looking into a mirror. He’s very enthusiastic about Revit Market, and is keen to make it more accessible to Japanese users. The conversation centered on offering more items in metric units, and the possibility of translating Revit Market previews into Japanese.

We’ve got grand plans for Revit Market, including making preview searches directly accessible from Google and other search engines. Stay tuned for exciting developments coming soon!

Revit Market and Talent on Demand

September 24th, 2009 by Michele Bousquet

TurboSquid has a Talent on Demand service, where we hook up clients looking for custom work with artists and designers who can complete their projects. We’re getting an increasing number of requests for custom Revit families, and we’re happy to hook up some of our best Revit Market publishers with clients who need the work done right.

With our Revit Market catalog, a client can browse and look for a publisher who does the kind of work they need. In fact, just this week, a client hand-picked a few designers for his project just by browsing Revit Market. This is an advantage for both the client and the designer. The client can see the work of dozens of designers in one shot, and publishers can expose their work to a wide variety of potential clients, all while earning money on their families.

If you’re interested in being considered for Revit Talent on Demand jobs, please visit our Talent on Demand page and fill out the Artist registration form. If you need custom families made, visit the page and request a quote. If you sign up as an artist, please keep in mind that first preference is given to Revit Market publishers.

Revit Market had a great August!

September 4th, 2009 by Michele Bousquet

Record sales last month! Many publisher saw increased sales in August. TurboSquid as a whole also reported higher-than-usual sales. Either the economy is recovering, or we’re just doing well. Who knows? All we know is, Revit Market is happening these days!

If you have more families to publish, let me know. We can pre-certify your families to make sure everything you publish is certified.

We’re also seeing more CAD models posted at TurboSquid in general. We see this as a great sign for the future. Keep on posting those Revit families, and stay tuned for more exciting changes at Revit Market!

SquidGuild – Higher royalties, keyword reports

August 14th, 2009 by Michele Bousquet

TurboSquid has just introduced the SquidGuild, a program to reward publishers who commit to selling only at TurboSquid. Revit Market benefits from this announcement in a few important ways:

  • All Revit Market publishers are eligible for the same increased royalties as other TurboSquid members.
  • Revit Market publishers who join the SquidGuild will receive a monthly report specific to Revit Market, detailing popular keywords and keywords that lead to sales.

You can read all about the SquidGuild here. If you want the newsletter that describes the details, pop me an email and I’ll send you a copy.

Fame and Fortune for Revit Market

July 18th, 2009 by Michele Bousquet

Nice press release about Revit Market went out this week.

Some of the high points:

  • 2500+ families for sale.
  • Quality guarantee – Revit Certified families are guaranteed to flex as expected.
  • Entourage stuff (furniture, plants, vases, bottles, decorative items) are the big sellers these days. If you’ve got any families like this hanging around your hard disk, feel free to publish them for sale! The more, the merrier.
  • Customers who buy from Revit Market gave some nice quotes for the press release. Several have come back week after week to buy more stuff.
  • As they say in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, “Share and enjoy.”

Revit Market hits 2500 families!

July 10th, 2009 by Michele Bousquet

Revit Market now has more than 2500 families available for download! Most are in the $3-$20 range. Here’s what our customers are saying:

“I found so many useful entourage families at Revit Market that I couldn’t find anywhere else. And they all worked the way I expected them to! Being able to download families when I need them, and for such great prices, has made it possible for me to finish projects without staying up all night, projects that I couldn’t have done otherwise.” – Kit Rautio, Rescadd Design Services

“Precise, accurate and high-quality Revit models are always in demand by architecture firms using BIM technology. Revit Market has proven to be a valuable and dependable resource for us, improving our workflow and increasing efficiency and productivity.” – Oswaldo Martinez, DiGeronimo PC

Look for our press release next week, coming to a CAD news outlet near you.

We’ve also got some cool new landing pages to catch that all-important Google traffic:

More stuff coming soon!

Grand Opening July 8

July 6th, 2009 by Michele Bousquet

We’re doing it! Revit Market’s Grand Opening is scheduled for this Wednesday, July 8. Check out the plan for the big splash:

Landing pages. We have landing pages in the works for all the main categories users search for: Furniture, Windows, etc. The Appliances page is up now. Others will follow by July 8. These pages will come up in Google searches when users search on keywords like Revit appliance family. Google isn’t picking them up yet, but will soon.

AUGI magazine ad. A Revit Market ad, in conjunction with Autodesk Seek, is featured on page 35 of the AUGI AEC Edge magazine. The ad has already increased traffic (and sales) by a noticeable degree.

Press Release. Going out on July 8 to numerous CAD news outlets, announcing that we’ve reached 2500 assets. Current count is actually 2593.

Ad in Arch Viz book. Revit Market is going to have a spread in the book 3ds Max 2010 Architectural Visualization – Advanced to Expert. A large number of 3ds Max arch viz users also use Revit. The book also features several images from Revit Market contest entrants, mostly in the Composition chapter (Chapter 2). The book is scheduled for an August release.

Please note that we are not going to remove the Beta label from Revit Market for a while to come. The Grand Opening is to announce the size of our library (2500+ Revit families) and to attract customers.

There are more promotions coming, too. I’ll post again on July 8 with all the details.
